The only thing better than a champagne cocktail to ring in the New Year? A champagne cocktail complete with (edible) sparkle-infused ice cubes. Yes way. And they’re super easy to make. Just follow the recipe below (or buy some premade glitter) and practice your best “Happy New Year!”
Ingredients
- ½ cup white sugar
- Colored liquid food dye
- Parchment paper
Instructions
- Make a batch of regular ice cubes, ensuring they’re frozen solid.
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Divide sugar into two shallow bowls. Add a few drops of differently colored liquid dye to each bowl of sugar.
- Mix with a fork or spoon until sugar is evenly coated.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread the colored sugar out in an even layer.
- Bake for about 8 – 10 minutes, breaking up any sugar chunks halfway through.
- Let cool and sprinkle over the solid ice cubes while they’re still in the tray. Refreeze the cubes for a few hours to ensure the glitter adheres tightly.
- Pop the ice cubes out of the tray and place them into a glass. Pour champagne, sparkling water, or your other favorite beverage on top.
Once the drinks are made, the ice cubes will melt and the glitter will become part of your cocktail, adding a little sugary sweetness and a dose of festive flair. Cheers!
