Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling are the hottest on-screen duo in Hollywood right now. Their new musical, La La Land, premieres today, making it the third film they’ve starred in together. In 2011, the pair partnered up for Crazy, Stupid, Love, and two years later, they reunited in Gangster Squad. Clearly they love working together – and we love watching them! So in honor of their latest collaboration, we’re looking back at their best press-tour fashion, one film at a time.

Their Style M.O.
Emma Stone, a.k.a. “The Ingenue”
She’s always spotted in pretty, ladylike looks with a vintage-inspired twist. Retro shapes (like shifts, midis, and A-lines) and whimsical details (think: lace, embellishments, and floral motifs) are her signatures.
Ryan Gosling, a.k.a. “The Old Hollywood Hipster”
Classic, tailored silhouettes are his thing. But he keeps it interesting with out-of-the-box colors and fabrics. Because there’s more to formal style than plain, muted colors.

How They Wore It
Crazy, Stupid, Love
Emma and Ryan were first paired in the 2011 romantic comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love. For the premiere, she went Old Hollywood glam with a mid-length sheath in allover lace. Soft waves and a red lip completed the classic look. He went for a black suit in an unexpected check textile and suede dress shoes that were anything but boring.

Gangster Squad
Two years later, they reunited for the crime drama Gangster Squad, set in 1949. Emma’s red strapless number was reminiscent of another era, but her modern hair and makeup made the look current. Ryan took a risk with a traditional three-piece suit in a very unconventional color. And did you see those studded shoes? Bravo.

La La Land
It’s their third collaboration, but hopefully not their last! For a press appearance, Emma chose a light-yellow dress with a decidedly mod feel. She even pulled off a coordinating headband by keeping the rest of her accessories simple. Meanwhile, Ryan’s studded navy suit was so bold, there was no need for a tie.
