Four Words: Four. Ingredient. Nutella. Cronuts®.

Deep-fried jelly doughnuts are a Hanukkah staple, a nod to the oil that burned for eight days in Jerusalem. But eight days of jelly pastries? We could use some more options. Behold: these make-your-mouth-water Nutella-filled Cronut® holes (yes, really). And did we mention they’re super simple, too? Like four-ingredients kind of simple. With a bite-sized shape and gobs of heavenly Nutella, these flaky little delights will earn a permanent seat at your table for Hanukkah and beyond.

NUTELLA-STUFFED CRONUT® HOLES

Ingredients

Canola oil
Two 8-ounce canisters refrigerated Pillsbury crescent dinner rolls
½ cup granulated sugar
1 cup Nutella

Directions

1. In a heavy 2-quart saucepan, pour enough oil to fill it at least 2 inches deep. Heat over medium heat to 350ºF.
2. Open the dough canisters and divide the dough into sets of two triangles. Press the perforations together on each pair to seal and form a rectangle. Stack two rectangles on top of one another, press them together, and then fold them widthwise. Press down. Repeat with the remaining dough.
3. Use a 1-inch round biscuit cutter to cut the holes. Reserve the remaining dough.
4. Fry the dough in hot oil for 45 – 90 seconds on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels and allow them to cool slightly.
5. Roll croissant doughnut holes in granulated sugar. Add Nutella to a piping bag fitted with a piping tip and carefully inject each hole with Nutella. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Yields 16 doughnuts.
