If you love vintage (and who doesn’t), you know What Goes Around Comes Around. They’re the largest luxury vintage reseller in the world – whoa – and they’re celebrating their 25th anniversary. We were lucky enough to chat with the CEO, Seth Weisser, to dish on all things designer.
Rue La La: What trends are on your radar in the luxury handbag market?
Seth Weisser: I think we’ve clearly seen a spike in the logomania trend as well as a vintage resurgence at both Gucci and FENDI. At Gucci, the vintage-looking bags with Guccissma print are really hot right now. The same is true for the classic Zucca-print bags [at FENDI].
RLL: Logomania is definitely a huge trend right now. Why do you think it’s become so hot again? Is it here to stay?
SW: There is a new generation of luxury consumers who are very different than the past. The new luxury client is all about iconic luxury bags with eye-catching logos. I don’t believe that the trend is going anywhere.
RLL: What Goes Around Comes Around is celebrating its 25th anniversary and is definitely a leader in the luxury vintage marketplace. What’s the most important thing you’ve learned over the years?
SW: First, I would say passion and, secondly, perseverance. Our commitment to excellence and customer service has helped us build a truly enviable client base. That’s what’s helped us build relationships that have helped us survive 25 years (and drive us the next 25).
RLL: I think our Members would love to know the process behind authenticating an item. What does that look like?
SW: At What Goes Around Comes Around, nothing is more important than the authenticity of our products. As the largest luxury vintage reseller in the world, we have built a fail-proof system of checks and balances to protect our business and our valued clients. Every single piece goes through four inspections conducted by our incredible buying and authentication teams around the globe. We provide a Letter of Authenticity on every bag we sell and maintain a database of each item we have sold. This provides an additional comfort to buyers when they have questions or concerns about their purchase.
RLL: Now for the fun stuff! We have to ask – what is your all-time favorite vintage piece that you own personally?
SW: Just one?! As someone who loves beautiful things, I can’t be held to just one piece. A couple of my go-to favorites are my Louis Vuitton Monogramouflage jacket which is super cool (and rare!). A second would be my original Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon tee from 1973. It’s just one of my 150-piece collection of rock tees.
