Throw a Party: A Midsummer Night’s Dream

The weather may feel like the height of summer, but as clothing racks fill up with fall favorites, it’s hard not to feel the warm weather slipping through your fingers. Combat that mid-summer crisis by throwing A Midsummer Night’s Dream-themed garden party, complete with fresh new recipes, seasonal trends, and (hopefully) the “Best Hostess Ever” award.

I love this DIY lace doily lantern – how perfect would it be to hang from a tree branch over your soiree? Add some playful animal masks for an adorable alternative to place cards at the table – they can be made from any materials lying around the house (newspaper, tissue paper, card stock, and bits of fabric). Toss wildflowers like daisies, thistle, and clovers into a mason jar as a whimsical centerpiece.

What To Wear:
Achieve an ethereal, woodland-fairy-inspired look by playing with textures, metallics, and pops of color (Health Magazine has some fun suggestions) in unexpected places. This season is all about the arm party, so experiment with rose gold pieces, and layer up on rings, bangles, and arm cuffs. For your wardrobe, try a flowy floral pant or suede shorts paired with a dainty lace top.

What To Serve:

Puck’s Punch
(Serves 4)
1/4 cup mint leaves (muddled)
2 tablespoons lime juice
2 tablespoons agave syrup
1 cup sweet tea vodka

Fairy Berries
(Serves 4)
3 cups Greek-style yogurt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 teaspoons honey

Mix strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries with a splash of orange liqueur (I prefer Cointreau or Gran Marnier) and serve over Greek yogurt with honey and vanilla.

Tip: Put the Greek yogurt in the freezer for a frozen treat!
