If you’re anything like us, you have the popcorn cued up for tonight’s Veep season five premiere, and you’re anxiously awaiting the reveal of Selina’s Oval Office wardrobe (obviously). While lead costume designer Ernesto Martinez has flawlessly outfitted Selina Meyer for her past role as the country’s VP, we can’t wait to see what he has in store for her this season. So what would a female POTUS actually wear? Perhaps we’ll find out soon in real life – but for now, we’re looking to Selina for a hint.

If you want to command attention, opt for a strong color. Cobalt blue is classic and bright – the perfect shade for standing out in a good way. Selina looks polished in three-quarter sleeves and a past-the-knee hemline. Proof that expert tailoring goes a long way!

Patterns can sometimes be more distracting than serious (read: allover leopard), so pulling them off is all about balance. A conservative black top with an elegant pattern below the waist makes Selina’s look 100% fierce.
