TV’s biggest night is just a few days away – and things are really heating up for Brooke Turpin. As Variety’s VP of Global Partnerships, she’s the mastermind behind its annual Variety and Women in Film Television Nominees Celebration. Oh, and did we mention that Rue will be there for tomorrow night’s festivities? Before catching a flight to LAX, we chatted with the media exec to get her take on the event of the season.
Rue Now: This year, the Variety and Women in Film Television Nominees Celebration is happening at Gracias Madre. What made you pick that location?
Brooke Turpin: L.A.’s weather is gorgeous, but September evenings are particularly magical. Gracias Madre has a luscious indoor-outdoor space in a chic part of West Hollywood. It’s the ideal spot to kick off the weekend.
RN: The party always attracts a lot of notables. Who is expected to be there?
BT: We expect Emilia Clarke, Peter Dinklage, Kit Harington, Claire Danes, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hiddleston, Aziz Ansari, Tina Fey, Melissa McCarthy, Courtney B. Vance, and Kerry Washington, plus lots more!
RN: And who are you most excited to see?
BT: Too many to pick just one!
RN: Describe the vibe of the night in three words.
BT: Celebrate good times.
RN: Who do you think will own the red carpet and why?
BT: Kerry Washington always kills it.
RN: Will guests be sipping on a signature cocktail?
BT: It’s all about the margarita! “One in a Melon”: muddled watermelon, mezcal espadin, jalapeño, elderflower, lime, and pink salt.
Check back on Saturday for our exclusive recap of the star-studded Variety bash. In the meantime, see the party through our lens on Instagram Stories tomorrow night.
