Yesterday, models from around the world gathered to walk in the 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. The hyper-sexy runway event won’t officially hit the airwaves until December 2, but we captured some exclusive footage that will give you your Angel fix until then.
This year, we went behind the scenes and into a fitting to see how model Jasmine Tookes prepped for the runway show. The 27-year-old model, who had the honor of wearing the Fantasy Bra back in 2016, answered all of our questions, while in the try-on phase for her blush-toned panties and matching, long-line bra. To complete her look, she had a pair of strappy pumps designed by Brian Atwood, a pair of pink cat-eye sunglasses, and a cluster of metallic flowers worn on her shoulders as wings.
Catch up on all of the exclusive behind-the-scenes moments, plus find out exactly how Tookes mentally and physically prepped for the 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show below.
You’ve been modeling in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show since 2012. Do you ever get nervous?
“I get more and more nervous every year, because you know what to expect out there. There are so many cameras everywhere, so many people watching, and you just want to look your best and not fall.”
Speaking of falling: What’s the secret formula to the perfect Victoria’s Secret walk?
“My secret to the perfect Victoria’s Secret walk is to strut your stuff, put on a big smile, and maybe a little hands on the hips.”
What’s your favorite memory from the show?
“My craziest memory from the shows is wearing the fantasy bra. That was so crazy, and I can’t believe I got that opportunity.”
Did you ever look up to any of the Angels growing up?
“My all-time favorite retired angel is Giselle Bündchen. When I was younger that was the girl that I was like, holy cow her body … She just seemed so cool … and I just wanted to be her.”
Did she or any of the retired Angels ever give you any advice?
“I think I get advice from all of the Angels. We were together to push each other to be greater and better. And everyone is just so supportive.”
What’s your ritual before you hit the stage?
“Before I hit the stage, I like to just go in my own little corner, center myself, say a little prayer, and then kill it.”

What do you think about when you’re smizing?
“Whenever I’m smizing I just think about Tyra Banks because she created the smize.”
We love that Victoria’s Secret decided not to cover your stretch marks in one of the campaigns. How did that moment make you feel?
“I got my stretch marks from working out really hard. So why not show it because that’s how I built my butt? And it’s a lot of hard work. And I think it’s great to show girls out there those imperfections. And they’re not even imperfections. They’re just little beauty marks.”
What’s one thing that you add to your diet as you prepare for the show?
“While I’m preparing for the show I increase my protein intake. I have to eat a lot of protein to build these muscles and stay strong because without that I would be really tired.”

Is there anything you omit?
“Something I take out in my diet leading up to the show is any alcohol. It really makes your skin break out, and you want to have beautiful, healthy, glowing skin on the runway.”
Are there any workouts that you feel are overrated, or that don’t work for you?
“One workout that I feel like doesn’t work for me is running. I am horrible at cardio. I feel like it doesn’t do anything for my body. So I like to hit the weights and do some Pilates and more, like, strength training.”
What’s a workout that you do more of leading up to the show?
“One workout I do more of leading up to the show is definitely squats. That is how I get my butt nice and tight and round and plump. I’m all about the butt, so squats are very important to me.”
Are there any details you can give us about some of your outfits as we prepare to watch the 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion show?
“My first look is very beautiful and has beautiful and metallic wings. And my second look is very colorful. You’ll see.”
