A whole month of runway shows in four different cities is coming to a close, wrapping up the debuts of the Fall 2015 collections. And while we saw all kinds of out-there looks — lacy masks at Comme des Garçons, face-painted men in skirts at Vivienne Westwood, and chain-mail dresses at Alexander Wang — there were also totally approachable trends that surfaced show […]

Everyday neutrals have been punched up with soft brights and pastels. Yep, the hues you’re stocking up on for spring will transition right into next fall. Classic Combos Say hello to the usual suspects. Winter white, rich […]

Designer Marissa Webb Talks Fall 2015 & Tomboy Style

Marissa Webb is having a nonstop week. Juggling her own label with a side gig as the creative drive behind Banana Republic, she’s showing two Fall 2015 collections. (No biggie, right?) And with all eyes on her menswear-inspired aesthetic, Marissa continues to churn out ultra-wearable looks. Yesterday, we spoke backstage at her Made Fashion Week show about runway prep, her […]

The 10 Spots to See New York Fashion Week in Action

The Big Apple is buzzing every day of the year, but come February and September, that on-the-go crowd becomes an impeccably dressed one. You guessed it: New York Fashion Week is in town. And the magic isn’t limited to the catwalk and backstage bustle. Here we’ve mapped out ten notable places to live the stylish life. Read up and […]

Heading Downtown: NYFW Is on the Move

Change is in the air for New York Fashion Week. Yesterday WWD reported that come September, runways will swap Lincoln Center for yet-to-be-named downtown digs. According to the event’s organizers, it’s too early to disclose the new destination. However, site theories abound. Could several venues host the seasonal show? And what about Culture Shed, which is still being […]

The End of an Era: NYFW Says Bye to Lincoln Center

The rumors are true: after this February’s shows, New York Fashion Week will be forced out of Lincoln Center’s Damrosch Park, its home since 2010. The NYC Parks Advocates just reached a settlement with the city after arguing that NYFW’s tents and equipment illegally took over the public space, using the park for commercial purposes. Due to their claim, Fashion Week will be prevented from […]

Spotted on the Street: 3 Boot Trends to Try Now

No doubt there are as many eyes on the sidewalks during fashion month as there are on the runways. And one of the biggest draws for street-style photographers? Shoes. From New York to London, the style elite have been flaunting fall’s must-have boots: over-the-knee stunners, dressed-up moto styles, and cutout booties. Here’s how to work them into […]

Ralph Lauren Goes 4D (No Glasses Required)

On Monday night, all-American design house Ralph Lauren launched its first-ever Polo Ralph Lauren womenswear collection at Central Park’s Cherry Hill. And this was no typical runway. Instead, holographic models were projected on a 60-foot-tall, 150-foot-wide screen of water for a 4D fashion show. Yes, a wall of H2O (the fourth dimension). The presentation paid true homage to New York and featured prefilmed models in front of dreamy cityscapes like the […]

Behind the Scenes We Go: Shimmering Eyes at Christian Siriano

Project Runway alum–turned–New York Fashion Week regular Christian Siriano is a true success story. And his Spring 2015 Collection? In icy arctic blues and greens, sharp laser-cut patterns, and crystal embroidery – inspired by the diffusion of light and reflective transparency of Sergio Redegalli’s glass sculptures – well, it’s par for the course. Makeup artist Polly Mellon helped bring […]

Salute the Runway: Servicewomen Take On NYFW

On the eve of New York Fashion Week, the industry gathered at Lincoln Center to support an often-overlooked group of women: female veterans transitioning to civilian life. Dubbed Salute the Runway, the show featured 15 servicewomen who modeled LBDs from a stylish designer roster. As both a military wife and a fashion editor, I attended proudly.

In Motion: Instagram's Time-Lapse App Is Perfect for NYFW

Yesterday, Instagram launched a standalone app that will put your existing video uploads to shame. Called Hyperlapse, it lets users record time-lapse video from their iPhone®, accelerating footage anywhere from two to twelve times the normal speed. And it didn’t take long for the fashion set to realize it’ll be a handy New York Fashion Week Tool.

Styling Director

Ten years ago, I launched a personal shopping business. It was my gateway to styling, from editorial shoots to film sets and, finally, e-commerce. I’m a tomboy at heart, so naturally I have a soft spot for the perfect grey fitted sweatshirt and a great pair of flats.

By day, I’m an executive assistant at Rue. And by night, you’ll find me posting to my personal style blog, Cupcakes & Couture. I’m a lover of all things feminine and whimsical, I’m a collector of vintage designer handbags, and I’m constantly striving to achieve that effortless Parisian-chic look.

As a born-and-bred New Yorker, I’ve been immersed in style my whole life. I learned the trade at Bloomingdale’s, then moved on to Saks Fifth Avenue, Burberry, and Ralph Lauren. Now, after more than 20 years in luxury retail, I head up Rue’s constantly growing beauty and shoe department.

Senior Stylist

My first foray into styling was a stint in the wardrobe department on the show What Not to Wear. I often find inspiration in street style, with my personal look skewing on the sportswear and androgynous side. Head-to-toe black? I’m all about it. If you see me with a bright lip, be concerned.

My career started in personal shopping, where I worked with a global set of well-heeled clients to furnish their wardrobes and homes. That led me to the world of fashion editorial, first at Lucky and now at Rue. I’m a storyteller at heart, whether it’s curating an icon’s style or capturing trends. Outside the office, you’ll find me wandering the halls of the Met.

When it comes to my style aesthetic, I’m constantly inspired by things other than fashion (think old movies, the book I’m currently reading, and architecture). I dress for my mood, so it’s not unusual to see me in leather and Dr. Martens one day, and penny loafers and a cardigan the next.

For nearly a decade, I’ve worked in e-commerce telling style stories. The ones that stand out most? They go deeper than just trends. Think the history behind a Turkish rug or the craft that goes into a pair of Italian boots. That said – you won’t find me taking my own personal style too seriously. If it surprises and delights me, I’ll wear it.

John Camilleri

Creative Director

With more than 20 years in the fashion industry, I’ve worked on everything from mass-market brands to high-end advertising agencies. My kind of men’s style is all about refined simplicity – easy, accessible, and not overthought. Right now, I’m super excited about the all-American look and the iconic labels and personalities that bring it to life.

I’ve spent the past few years translating street style, high fashion, and pop culture into shoppable experiences on Rue. At my core, I am a visual storyteller with a knack for finding low-ticket items that look expensive. In my free time, I obsess over all things home. My dream Saturday? Antiquing in the morning and trying a new recipe at night.

I’ve been a fashion editor for fifteen years, freelancing for publications including WWD, Teen Vogue, W, Marie Claire, Glamour, and Lucky. My love for the business extends into styling, too. I especially love vintage shopping and going to flea markets. Fun fact: I once ran a vintage booth on the weekends just for fun.

For more than five years, I’ve bounced between content and e-commerce roles – and I’m most excited when combining the two. I have a passion for uncovering stories, from the humble roots of iconic labels to the ever-growing clean beauty movement. Not surprisingly, I’m a sucker for stylish coffee table books.
