There’s still snow on the ground, but we’ve got our sights set on spring. So it’s no wonder we suddenly want to hit refresh on everything (including our wardrobes). Instead of overhauling your entire closet, here are a few simple swaps that will have you warm-weather ready in no time.
Out with black… in with mauve.
We’re not quite ready for summer whites, but dusty mauves and blush pinks are a natural transition to lighter hues. They’re just as neutral, but they’ll break up your all-black winter wardrobe (it’s our uniform, too).
Out with plaid… in with jumbo florals.
Scarves, boots, skirts: You name it, we probably have it in tartan. But soon the snow will be melting and the buds will be blooming, so flowers it is. Look for oversized floral patterns to bring an exotic feel.
Out with velvet… in with suede.
Winter’s number-one trend was good to us, but it’s almost time to move on. Soft, buttery suede gives the same luxe texture, without feeling heavy. Layered with denim, lace, or both, the rustic combo brings the boho vibes for spring.
Out with fringe… in with ruffles.
Flapper-esque details are being replaced by softer, more romantic ruffles. They still lend three-dimensional interest, but they feel fresh. For extra style points, try ruffles on unexpected pieces, like sweatshirts or the hems of your jeans.
