We’re celebrating Pride Month in style and have launched an exclusive-to-Rue tee, with proceeds benefiting GLSEN. GLSEN is the leading national education organization focused on ensuring safe schools for all students – regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.

Our tee features “Proud to Be ____”, and throughout Pride Month, we’re asking our employees to fill in the blank. Today, we’re chatting with Nicole Da Silva from Studio Production.
Rue La La: Who or what are you proud to be?
Nicole Da Silva: I am proud to be a friend/homie and ally of the LGBTQ+ community.
RLL: What does love mean to you?
NS: Love means acceptance. When you can completely accept someone for exactly who they are – that’s real love!
RLL: What can our Members do as activists for the LGBTQ+ community?
NS: They can donate to GLSEN and other charities helping the LGBTQ+ community. And also, SPEAK UP! Cheer them on! Stick up for our homies! See something, say something. They deserve the same love and respect as everyone else in the world!
RLL: How are you celebrating Pride Month?
NS: This Pride Month I got to participate in the RGG shoots as well as go to the Pride parade and donate to GLSEN.
RLL: Who in the LGBTQ+ community inspires you?
NS: My cousin. Being able to come out to a traditional, old-school thinking type of family was inspiring, and seeing them change their views gave me and all my cousins more confidence to be ourselves in our own ways.
RLL: Did you know about GLSEN before today? What do you think about their efforts?
NS: I found out about GLSEN when I started working at Rue four years ago. I think they are doing an amazing job spreading awareness, and I am so happy we got to work with them this year.
