Fashionable Hostess | Amanda S. Gluck
As a follow-up to my home tour (which was actually just featured on Style Me Pretty Living!), I wanted to share a closer look at my guest bedroom. From November through the New Year, we have guests staying with us nearly every week, so we wanted to make the space extra special, with a few festive updates to get in the holiday spirit. Today I wanted to share the updates in detail, as well as a few other essentials I have found make the room even more guest-friendly. Happy hosting!
Fresh Bedding
Make sure the bedding is cozy, make sure to have enough pillows, and make sure to have warm-enough blankets, starting with a sheet! I have been a longtime lover of the organic bedding brand Boll and Branch, so this winter, I added a few of their newest pieces, like their plaid pillowcases. See a breakdown of the rest of the bedding in my guest room below:
Banded White/Pewter Duvet Cover
Banded White/Pewter Euro Sham
Plaid Flannel Pillowcases
Hand Embroidered Diamond Lumbar Sham
Luggage Valet
This is actually a fabulous tip, because there is nothing worse, especially for older people, than to be bending over for their luggage every day. We bought ours on Amazon (here) and store it in the guest closet when not in use. If you don’t want to do a valet, a bench at the end of the bed will also do.
Seasonal Candles
I always light a candle in my guest room before guests arrive. My all-time favorite candle is the Jo Malone Peony & Pink Blush Suede. Other favorites this time of year include the Williams-Sonoma Winter Forest Candle and NEST Fragrances Birchwood Pine Classic Candle.
Festive Décor
Here, I took down the middle mirror above the bed and hung a beautiful wreath from Frontgate. I also placed a small faux pine tree on the bed. I totally recommend going with faux flowers, mini trees, or faux boxwood topiaries over real flowers, or you will be changing them constantly!
Throw Blankets
I always have a few extra cable-knit throws on or around the bed! The ones here are Boll & Branch as well, in the classic style and origami. My kids love to run into our guest room to snuggle with their grandparents or cousins, so throw blankets come in handy when everyone’s snuggled up in bed!
I hope this list helps to make the holidays a slightly less hectic time.
