In our majority-female office, our creative director John is the resident expert on men’s fashion (and all-things-style in general). Each month, he’ll be dishing on style trends for men and helping you break them down into something easy and wearable.

From Gucci’s debut of baby dragons at the Fall 2019 show, to Dolce & Gabbana’s drones, this year has been full of looks – and pretty unwearable ones. To help navigate the fashion landscape, I’ve rounded up three trends from the Spring 2019 shows that can go from runway to realway seamlessly. Let’s do this.
If you didn’t notice from the rise of dad shoes and belt bags, it’s cool to be uncool in the fashion world. This year’s biggest accessory trend from men’s fashion week was no exception: the bucket hat. It’s practical and fashionable, which I love. Plus, expanding your hat collection beyond baseball caps will give your look the street-style edge we’re all after.
Jeans + Shorts = Jorts… and you need a pair. This is one of the easiest trends to try this summer because they’re pretty foolproof when it comes to styling. Throw on a vintage tee, stonewashed jorts, and some lived-in sneakers for a hint of grunge.
Take a break from your fitted chinos and extra-sharp jackets. This year is all about super-relaxed silhouettes. Once a faux pas, shapeless pieces have come back into style over the past year – and based on the Spring 2019 runways, they’re not going anywhere. Oh… and this yellow and green color combo? Score.
