You have a busy week – a calendar filled with appointments, dates, and fun – and only one day to polish your nails and then hope your manicure lasts until next Sunday night. Which shade should you choose? If your goal is to pretty up your hands with a hue that has serious staying power, nail experts agree there’s one color that takes the longest to chip – and you’re going to want to be sure to keep this one in stock.
“A sheer light pink always lasts the longest,” says Lauren Dunne, cofounder of Varnish Lane. “They just last longer in general, but even when they chip, it is not as noticeable, so it is easy to get away with wearing the color longer.”
Dying for a great sheer pink recommendation? “We love Baby Love by Deborah Lippmann,” Dunne says.
While you may have guessed that fire-engine red is the number-one mortal enemy of all busy women everywhere, believe it or not, there’s one color that surpasses even crimson when it comes to being a total chip disaster waiting to happen: blue.
“The colors that chip the most easily are the chalky colors that are opaque (like bright blues),” Dunne says. “This polish can become very thick and when it is thick the polish chips easily.”
So, the next time you find yourself swimming in work and play, think pink (nail polish) and save yourself the time and hassle of having to change polish shades every third day.
