Today, we’re catching up with one of our Personal Shoppers, Sarah Granetz. Sarah has held roles in internal communications at LVMH and Louis Vuitton, and she’s even worked in the fashion closet at Cosmopolitan. In between all her styling and shopping, she’s also getting her MBA in the evenings.
With the holidays just around the corner, she’s ready to start checking off her Nice List (and help you do the same).
Rue La La: How can Rue’s Personal Shoppers help with gift giving this season?
Sarah Granetz: Gift giving is like a sport to me, and I get very competitive – mostly with myself. As a Personal Shopper, it’s my job to find the right items for my clients. So, assisting them with gifts is a natural next step. My colleagues and I have access to thousands of fantastic items and can tailor our selections specifically for the loved ones in your life. Let us remove the stress from holiday shopping so you can focus on what really matters!
RLL: What’s one gift you would recommend for the fashionista who has literally everything?
SG: When shopping for a fashionista, I try to think of items that she probably wouldn’t purchase on her own – something that’s nice to have but not a necessity. Chic go-tos include luxe business card and passport cases, cashmere robes, and travel-friendly cosmetic bags.
RLL: What about the office holiday swap? That’s always a tough one.
SG: I think a key for professional gift giving is to think about the person you are purchasing for. Have you heard your co-worker talking about training for the marathon, going back to school for another degree, or welcoming a new baby? Support what you know about their life and use it to find the perfect gift. Give them a Nike set to rock at the gym, a monogrammed leather notebook for school, or an embroidered baby blanket in an on-trend or Pantone color.
RLL: What’s one of the most memorable gifts you’ve ever received, and why?
SG: My best friend in college gave me an Alexander McQueen keychain. I love skulls and anything McQueen, and it’s something I have literally used every day for years. It’s one of those items that I probably wouldn’t have purchased for myself, even though it’s useful and very much my style. I think that’s really the key (pun intended) to a great gift – finding something that someone might not buy themselves but would really love!
RLL: What’s on your wish list this season?
SG: I’ve had my eye on petite, diamond huggie earrings recently. I usually don’t wear earrings except for an occasion or a night out, but I’ve seen so many dainty and lightweight styles on Rue recently that I’m beginning to change my tune. When it comes to jewelry, I’m usually drawn to edgy, statement-making pieces, but I’ve found complementing them with classic and timeless pieces creates a more balanced look.
