Kate Middleton Almost Never Wears This Kind of Dress — but She Did Today

If you were somehow lucky enough to get a peek inside Kate Middleton’s closet, you’d probably find a wealth of A-line skirts and tailored peacoats. What you wouldn’t find? Unconventional necklines.

The Duchess of Cambridge has her favorite silhouettes when it comes to fashion, and she sticks to them almost always — though not during her latest visit. In a rare move, Middleton shook up her normal uniform while visiting the Victoria and Albert Museum’s new Photography Centre, and we could get used to seeing this side of the royal.

Instead of her usual evenly cut pieces, Middleton instead chose an off-the-shoulder tweed Erdem dress with a purple belt and flared skirt. While the skirt is quintessential Kate, we can’t remember the last time we’ve seen this sort of neckline on her.

Needless to say, it’s a good look.

Thank goodness she’s back from maternity leave, because we could get used to this more daring side of Kate.
