Hunter Boots: A History Lesson

When it comes to Hunter, there’s more than meets the eye. Sure, its boots are your #1 puddle-jumping partners, but the company’s legacy goes back more than a century.

1856: Hunter established itself as the North British Rubber Company.

World Wars I and II: Demand for its protective rubber boots skyrocketed across Europe.

Postwar: Following its quality performance on the battlefield, Hunter became a must-have for every British farmer and hunter – and pretty much any lover of the outdoors.

1956: The heritage brand launched its Original Boot design (which remains the same to this day), handcrafted from 28 parts.

1981: Hunter wellies, which years prior had caught the royal family’s eye, made an appearance on Princess Diana in her engagement photos with Charles.

2005: Kate Moss sported the boots at Glastonbury, setting off a music-festival trend that sticks to this day.
