The Hat: A Guide to Summer’s Top Accessory

Chic down to the last straw, a raffia hat caps off summer outfits with some serious panache (not to mention a key dose of sun protection). But from fedoras to western numbers, there can be a lot of options to wrap your head around. For help finding the right one, check out the hat guide below.

The Fedora
One of the hottest hatwear trends this season, the fedora is a hat with some serious attitude. The best part? This topper can be dressed down or dressed up in a snap.
Pair with: Skinny leg jeans and a flannel shirt.
Wear to: The farmer’s market or out antique shopping.

The Floppy Hat
Yes, the floppy hat is back. A favorite from the ’70s, this wide-brimmed style adds an instant air of mystery to every ensemble.
Pair with: A floral frock.
Wear to: An outdoor wedding or brunch at the country club.

The Cowboy Hat
Contrary to popular belief, the cowboy hat isn’t restricted to the ranch. In fact, this western-style headpiece made a big splash on the fashion frontier this past runway season.
Pair with: Cutoffs and a cotton tee (one with your favorite band is even better).
Wear to: A concert (and no, it doesn’t have to be country).
