Chase the Music: Your Guide to the W Hotels’ Wake Up Call Concert Series

Summer may be on its way out, but festival season is alive and well. In June, W Hotels announced the world tour of the brand’s signature music-festival series, Wake Up Call, that will make stops at two W Hotels this year and one in 2019. Thought you’d have to tough it through inclement weather and questionable dining fare? Think again. In addition to sets from top musicians, festivalgoers will enjoy fitness classes, W Chef–prepared cuisine, and artisanal cocktails. Wake Up Call turns the traditional music festival on its head, taking it from the field to the decidedly more luxurious grounds of W Hotels around the world. Check in, then check them out.

W Barcelona

September 21 – 23

What to Do: Spain’s Catalan capital is one of the most visited and vibrant cultural centers in Europe. Visit architect Antoni Gaudí’s famed Sagrada Familia and Park Guëll after taking a leisurely stroll down the city’s iconic and bustling Las Ramblas for dining, shopping, and epic people-watching. With so much to see and do, wind down at the Ricardo Bofill–designed W Barcelona along the Barceloneta beachfront and bask in Mediterranean views. Feeling refreshed? Head to the 26th-floor Eclipse bar, or chill out at the signature Living Room for a low-key cocktail.

What to Wear: Barcelona is a fashion mecca with cool September nights, so stylish layers are key. A leather jacket, T-shirt, jeans, and trendy boots say I’m a local.

W Bali – Seminyak

October 4 – 6

What to Do: Looking for a far-flung jungle escape? Look no further than Bali. Known as the Isle of the Gods, this Indonesian paradise has fast become the go-to destination for anyone looking to retreat from the world. Take in panoramic views of the Indian Ocean, wade in sparkling pools surrounded by palm trees, or just be at the W Bali – Seminyak AWAY Spa. If there’s any place to get away from it all, it’s here. (But… did it happen if you didn’t ’gram it?)

What to Wear: Bali’s humid climate lends itself to informality. Go for breezy printed fabrics in bright hues, flat sandals, and simple gold jewelry.

W Dubai – The Palm

2019

What to Do: The W Dubai at The Palm is so exclusive that you can’t even stay there yet. Slated to open its doors in October of this year, the newest member of the W Hotels family is on the west crescent of Palm Jumeirah, within a stone’s throw of Media City, the towering Burj Khalifa, and the Mall of the Emirates. Soak in the vibrant culture and art scene, then soak up some sun poolside at the WET deck. At the end of the day, enjoy sunset views of the gulf while sipping a couple of rooftop cocktails. Fe sahatek!

What to Wear: Hellooooo, triple-digit temps. You’re going to want to keep it light to stave off the heat, so natural fabrics like linen and cotton will be your BFFs – and look great with a sun-kissed glow.
