When it comes to figuring out which styles look best on us short torso’ed ladies, we frequently focus all of our attention on our middle sections (aka, lengthening our naturally high waistlines). But pairing the wrong neckline with even the most flattering dress shape can inadvertently undo much of that hard work. So, what is the best neckline for faking a longer mid-section? A classic V-neck.

Ask any of your fashionable petite friends and they’ll tell you how magical this neckline is for creating the illusion of length. Opt for dresses that don’t have seams at the waist and instead make a smooth, line-free look from shoulder to hem to really maximize the effect.
As for which necklines to avoid, sorry, Meghan Markle, but boat necks are not a short torso’s friend. This is one time when copying the Duchess’s greatest looks might not be your best bet.
