Getting dressed in the morning can be a challenge when the weather goes haywire. So instead of spending too much time stressing over an outfit (and leaving the house with clothes strewn over the floor), I’m relying on these transitional Free People pieces. They can be dressed down when it’s hot, and piled on when it’s cold, so that no matter the weather, I’m always comfortable.
1. Ivory Gauze Festival Dress
Who says you can’t wear a maxi dress in mid-October? On it’s own, it’s perfect for summer days and music festivals. Add a striped, long-sleeve tee (plus a pair of edgy boots) and it’s ready for a new kind of festival: fall harvest.
2. Lace Eyelet Swing Top
It doesn’t get much better than this breezy cotton crewneck. In warm weather, throw it over a colorful patterned dress and add heels – summer date night’s taken care of. Days and nights getting cooler? With frayed shorts (or jeans) on hand, pair with suede slouchy boots and a cozy knit cardigan for fall dressing, perfected.
3. Oatmeal Burnout Pullover
I have nothing to say for this other than love, love, love – it’s a must-have layering piece in any closet. With cutout details, it’s perfectly suited for the heat of summer, but it’s also super easy to layer (over tanks, under sweaters, and paired with boots) when things cool down.
Our Free People Boutique opens Monday, July 23, at 11AM ET.
