Our Fashion Director on This Fall’s Beauty Newbies

This fall, not one, but two big designers have thrown their hats into the beauty arena. Going head-to-head off the runway, Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors have both created eponymous makeup lines.

Inspired by moods, music, and icons, and wrapped in super-sleek black packaging, Jacobs wanted his line to have a “real wow factor.” My picks? His Remedy Concealer Pen (a savior after big nights out) and his Lust for Lacquer Lipgloss in Kissability – the prettiest shade of pink.

Kors’s line is softer and a bit more romantic than Jacobs’s. His three-color collection is based upon three distinct personalities – Sporty, Sexy, and Glam – which, he explains, “have always been the DNA of Michael Kors.” Expect shimmery bronzers, jewel-tone nail polishes, and plenty of floral, fruity fragrances.

The winner? Well, that’s up to you to decide.
