Edward Enninful may not be taking charge as editor-in-chief of Vogue UK until August, but he’s got plenty cooking in the meantime. On Tuesday, Gap released a campaign that marks Enninful’s directorial debut, featuring a host of high-profile stars Enninful has championed or worked with throughout his career in fashion media.

In the Bridging the Gap short film, models Adwoa Aboah and Christie Brinkley, actors Yara Shahidi and Priyanka Chopra, musicians like Wiz Khalifa, and Insta-stars like Jasmine Sanders sing along to “Sunny” by Boney M. Each person wears a casual white Gap top and blue denim, styled to reflect their personal taste. The goal, according to a release from the brand, is to show unity and individuality existing in tandem.

The diverse cast is also meant to reflect the diversity of America as envisioned by a “quintessentially American brand,” according to Gap chief of marketing Craig Brommers.

“We strive to embody all of America in everything we do,” Brommers says. “Bridging the Gap is about showing the many faces of what it means to be an American and bringing all of those sides together. Edward is the perfect partner in this project as he and Gap share an optimistic view of the world.”

While Enninful himself is British, rather than American, he says that he loved American imagery growing up because of what it symbolized to him.

“It celebrated being the land of the free and home of the brave,” he says. “I love the optimistic American style that Gap celebrates and the simplicity of the basic white T-shirt that allows you to be yourself… This project is about authenticity and people living their truths.”
