Alert Mr. Carson and Mrs. Hughes! A Downton Abbey movie is really happening!

It’s been nearly two years since the BBC’s hit series Downton Abbey aired the glorious final episode in November 2015. But this week, the network announced our beloved Crawley family is reuniting for an official Downton Abbey movie. And our joy can only be expressed in the form of a Mr. Bates smile.

Naturally, Julian Fellowes, Oscar-winning Downton series creator and writer, was tapped to transition his genius small screenwriting to the big screen. Magically, Fellowes immediately produced a cinematic version of the show for producers, because, wait for it, he actually pre-wrote the script in hopes one day his movie dreams would come to fruition.

As much as we’d love to see Downton filled with the original Lady Mary, Master George, and sweet, sweet Branson, BBC has yet to make any official casting or premiere date announcements.
