David Beckham Is Now Setting Eyeshadow Trends

According to last night’s Golden Globes, green eye makeup is having a moment with celebs like Camilla Belle and Jaime King wearing a smoky eye and eyeliner in the color. Off the red carpet, David Beckham made a case for wearing green eye makeup in 2019 with the unexpected eye makeup look on his new LOVE Magazine cover.

Beckham is LOVE’s 20.5 issue cover star, a catalogue of images from the magazine’s first moving image issue. For the shoot, the soccer star accessorized his white suit with emerald green eyeshadow swiped across his lids. His signature neck tattoos also appear to also be tinted the same shade of green.

Matching your neck tattoos to your eyeshadow? Yep, Beckham is nailing two beauty trends on this cover. Green may be an emerging 2019 makeup trend, but monochromatic makeup is one look that Hollywood currently can’t get enough of.

The look is new for Beckham, who isn’t one male celebrity that’s known for wearing makeup, but I’m into it. It’s reminiscent of the dark eye makeup punk musicians smeared on their eyelids in the late ’70s-’80s, and more recently Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day or Pete Wentz of Fallout Boy.

Whatever the inspo was for this cover shoot, it confirms that Beckham is now a budding beauty influencer on top of being a grooming entrepreneur — who could forget about his House 99 line?
