Bust a Move: When to Buy a New Bra

This one’s for the girls. When it comes a bra’s lifespan, the general rule of thumb is to refresh your rotation every six to nine months – give or take, of course. Here are a few signs it’s time to say when.

It’s Worn Out

Exposed wires. Broken hooks. Zero give. If your best assets are being supported by a Franken-bra, it’s time to toss. Seriously, would you wear a dress with a broken anything? We think not.

Your Size Has Changed

Let’s face it, we all fluctuate. If you’re seeing some bulge over your cups or simply not filling them out, say goodbye. Take the time (a.k.a. a few minutes) to be professionally fitted once every six months.

It’s Totally Warped

If you can pull the back of your bra away from your body by more than a couple inches (and it’s on the tightest hook), your band is stretched out. Cue an upgrade.

You Want to Up the Ante

Your birthday. Valentine’s Day. Or just Tuesday. Who says you need a special occasion to spice things up? Our not-so-scientific research shows that bra shopping spontaneously has mood-boosting powers.
