There’s no denying the rising tide of ruby tones this season (hi, fall wardrobe and favorite new beauty look). But the latest folks to decree the trend? Paint authority Benjamin Moore and its team of strategic design intelligence experts.

Friends, say hello to their 2018 Color of the Year: the aptly named Caliente (AF-290).

It’s strong, warm, and anything but boring, and we’re suddenly feeling inclined to switch up our neutral décor scheme in exchange for something spicier. (Red walls! Red doors! Red mantels!)

And the best part about it? While undeniably brazen, there’s also a definite classicism to it (think a quintessential red barn) that works for those of both ballsy and more traditional tastes.

Color us inspired to go for bold.
