Today, we’re catching up with one of our Personal Shoppers Kristin Pielech. With years of styling under her belt, Kristin has even worked in Los Angeles as a wardrobe stylist and costume designer on popular TV shows and movie sets. Cool, right? We think so. Some of her favorite brands include Avec Les Filles, Rebecca Taylor, and Walter Baker. We caught up with her to get to know more about her passion for styling, holiday season essentials, and more.
Rue La La: How do you describe your personal style?
Kristin Pielech: Feminine and casual with a dash of edgy and trendy accents
RLL: Which trends are you most excited to try this holiday season?
KP: I am excited to incorporate pops of animal print into my looks and to try embellished hair accessories – like clips and headbands – to polish off my holiday looks this season!
RLL: What’s your go-to holiday party outfit?
KP: An oxblood colored, fit-and-flare dress with a black leather jacket, tights, suede booties, and a velvet headband!
RLL: What gift would you recommend for that friend who already has everything?
KP: I would recommend a trendy accessory for the season that they may not have picked up yet. Something like a resin hoop earring, a neon colored crossbody, or some hair clips with pearl embellishments.
RLL: What gift would you recommend for that friend who’s super picky when it comes to style?
KP: If you have a friend that is super picky when it comes to their personal style, I recommend gifting them something outside of clothing and accessories. Do they own a steamer? This could be a gift that makes their life easier in the morning when they are rushing to get dressed or when they are packing a travel-sized version for a vacation or work trip!
RLL: Tell us about your career. How long have you been styling?
KP: I have been styling for around ten years. I originally worked in retail and styled clients in small boutiques in the city. I then ventured to L.A. to fulfill a dream of living in California and styling actors and actresses in TV and film. For the past two years, I have been working for Rue. I love that I can continue to work in fashion back in my home city of Boston!
RLL: What are the most important factors you take into account when styling a client?
KP: The most important factors I take into account when styling a client would be finding styles that help accentuate their shape in a way that makes them feel comfortable and confident. Also, recommending a style that will help push them out of their comfort zone with a style that is current and on-trend – and lastly, being budget conscious.
RLL: What do you love most about our Personal Shopper program?
KP: I love that not only do we help our clients build their wardrobes, but the stylists in the Personal Shopper program also help each other on a day-to-day basis by finding go-to styles on the website or calling out new brands that their clients are loving. The Personal Shopper program has evolved into a tight-knit group of stylists who love to help each other out!
