2016 Style Goals: (Still) the British Royal Family

Kate Middleton is a style icon. And Prince William? Well, he’s sharing the spotlight. So in celebration of the Duchess’s 34th birthday, we’re breaking down the regal style moves of the world’s most famous and fashionable couple.

From her on-point royal-tour dresses (remember the famous Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress that sold out in minutes?) to his impeccably tailored suits, here’s what you need to bring both of their looks back across the pond.

Kate

The Duchess of Cambridge stepped into the royal spotlight with grace, intelligence, and (lucky for us) a serious appreciation for style. By shopping the racks and (gasp!) repeating outfits, she has solidified an accessibility factor rarely achieved by royals. Whether it’s a polka-dot day dress, a preppy blazer, or even a floral gown, every outfit is subject to the Kate Effect. The best part? Her look is 100% wearable. Just match tailored separates and simple sheaths with understated accessories, like her signature nude heels (no crown needed).

As for the Duke? His tried-and-true uniform of neutrals is formal without being fussy. With a simple, clean, and classic style aesthetic, he favors navy suits (single- or double-breasted), light blue button-downs with medium-spread collars, and navy or burgundy ties. When going more casual, he opts for a crewneck sweater layered over a button-front shirt and trousers.
